This Blessed Life, a handwritten newsletter of simple living and radical gratitude

Hi everyone! Here is the reason I've been missing in blog land.

I've created a handwritten, seasonal newsletter that I am offering for subscription. A newsletter is basically the same thing as a "zine" if you are familiar with those. A "zine" is a mini magazine created by a person. It is something that I create at home, make photocopies of, and send to the mail boxes of subscribers. Each will include stories are articles I've written that relate to the season and the theme (which I describe below), along with some simple pictures. Also stories, articles, recipes, etc. that are written by other folks that enjoy writing and send their handwritten work to me. I will put together a newsletter to send out each season of the year. I expect each issue to be in the 10-20 page range.

The Winter issue will be sent out before January 1st. Two contributors have also written for this issue. Now before you go thinking that I'm ohso clever for creating such a thing, recall that it was Tonya Gunn that introduced her wonderful newsletter, Plain and Joyful Living, a few years ago. :) I enjoyed her newsletter very much as did many others, but she is unable to continue it at this time. With Tonya's blessing I am adopting her idea.(Her blog, also called Plain and Joyful Living, can be found here). I'm very grateful to Tonya for being supportive of my endeavor and I hope she doesn't think my newsletter is dumb! ;)

I'm really excited about this new project. The theme of the newsletter is simple living and radical gratitude. What I picture this encompassing is things like living close with the seasons, striving for self sufficiency, cooking & baking from scratch, gardening & food preservation, working with our hands, being aware of how consumer driven our culture is & striving to avoid getting caught up in that... Also, being grateful for all our blessings, even when things are not going as we'd like them to be. And, related to both of those themes - the joys of mothering. Simply enjoying, appreciating, and raising up our kids with purpose and instilling gratitude in them.

I will be putting one issue together for each of the 4 seasons. Subscriptions are $15.00 per year (4 issues), or, if you'd just like one copy of the current issue, $4.00. If you are interested in contributing your own article, story, recipe, simple craft, or other idea you may think relevant, please do email me at aubreys_happy_home@yahoo.com .

If you'd like to subscribe, you may do so with a credit card or PayPal below. Or, you may send a personal check to my address. Send me an email & I will give my address to you.

I'm excited about this and think it will be really fun!

Ps. Stay tuned for my next blog post called "look what we found in our incubator!" Hint: It's really, really cute! heehee

Handwritten is so lovely...and yet I can't imagine anything that would convey your life and aspirations as well as your blog, with all of its wonderful photographs. I may subscribe to your newsletter -- but I sure hope you keep the blog too!

Happy winter,

Hi Flaneuse, I most definitely will be keeping up my blog. The newsletter is a side project I put together because I think it will just be really neat. Getting handwritten things in the mail is great fun, and including writings in it from willing contributors will just make it all the more fun for everyone to get to know each other better. Each article will kind of be like a blog post, but more personal because it's handwritten for a particular audience & sent right to our mail boxes! So fun. :)

Thank you for the article you linked to in a previous post about the top 5 best toys. That was great! And so, so true.

Good hearing from you. You must be one of my most long time readers. :)
