Coming from the Portland, Oregon area, I'm surprised by the amount of flooding & water accumulation around our home and community. It feels like it's just barely rained around here unlike in Oregon where it rained all day every day for weeks on end and never flooded.
The chickens are not impressed by the moat forming around their home.
This is our driveway. There is a large pipe going under it for the ditch water/creek to flow through. Look how close it is to flowing right over our driveway!
I snapped these photos out the window of the car while doing an errand in town:
And here is a sweet pink baby who doesn't notice it's raining at all.
In completely not rain related news, something really neat happened the other day. I was sitting at the dining table having crackers & cheese with the kids. I thought I saw a really big raven out the window & started commenting on "how huge that raven is!" until it flew right up to our yard outside the window & turned just so -- it was a bald eagle! How cool is that! I have never seen a wild bald eagle in my life, just at the zoo. I was so giddy I jumped out of my chair to run around to all the windows to watch it flying past. That was really, really neat. What cool wildlife to see just flying around, doing it's wild thing, right in my own yard.
