Our sheep have finally returned from their extended dates, and all three are looking a bit round with lamb. :) The friend that gave the sheep to us (originally as payment for computer work done for them by my husband) had been keeping them for us during our move and then for quite awhile afterwards as we organized our farm and where to put everybody. The sheep ladies hung out with the rams while at the friends' place. So, hopefully we will be seeing some cute little lambs very soon!
The three of them are Katahdins, a "hair sheep". Katahdins are raised for meat instead of wool and don't need shearing.
"Hey I'd really like to sniff your camera..."
The sheepies are said to be due around the 8th to the 16th. We've never had a lamb birth happen on our farm before! I'm excited and nervous, although not nearly as nervous as the calving we will also be experiencing soon.... but that's for another post. :)

Your sheep are so pretty. And they are due this month? I have 3 Katahdin ewes, all due in Feb. And also 5 Finn ewes. 1 due probably in March. And the 4 younger Finn's due in May. I can hardly wait! And lots of goats due soon too.
ReplyDeleteAny signs of a calf yet?
I'm so glad you all had a nice Chirstmas together. I hope your new year is full of babies and fun and love!
